Tricks that help
- Count in 16s: start at 16 and add 16 each time (16, 32, 48, 64, 80…).
- Split 16 into 10 and 6: 16 × 7 = 10 × 7 + 6 × 7 = 70 + 42 = 112.
- 16 is double 8, so double the 8 times table: 8 × 7 = 56, and double 56 is 112.
- 16 × 10 = 160: multiplying by 10 adds a zero to the end.
- Every fact has a twin: 16 × 7 = 7 × 16 = 112. If you know one, you know both.
- The last digits of the first ten answers go 6, 2, 8, 4, 0, 6, 2, 8, 4, 0.
