Tricks that help

  • Count in 13s: start at 13 and add 13 each time (13, 26, 39, 52, 65…).
  • Split 13 into 10 and 3: 13 × 7 = 10 × 7 + 3 × 7 = 70 + 21 = 91.
  • 13 × 10 = 130: multiplying by 10 adds a zero to the end.
  • Every fact has a twin: 13 × 7 = 7 × 13 = 91. If you know one, you know both.
  • The last digits of the first ten answers go 3, 6, 9, 2, 5, 8, 1, 4, 7, 0.
