Free OC Test Practice: Thinking Skills & Maths

The Opportunity Class Placement Test is a computer-based test for NSW students in Year 4 who want a place in a Year 5 Opportunity Class. It has three multiple-choice sections and no writing task. Tips for parents

  • Start thinking-skills practice early in Year 3 so the question styles feel familiar.
  • Ask your child to explain why an answer is right. Talking it through builds reasoning far more than speed.
  • Practise working against a gentle time limit later on, once accuracy is good.
  • Keep practice positive: OC is one pathway, and many children thrive without it.
