About Homophone Heroes

Homophones are words that sound the same but are spelt differently and mean different things, like flower and flour. Spell checkers often miss them because each spelling is a real word, so children need to understand the meaning to choose the right one.

Every question gives a full sentence, so children practise using context to decide which word fits. The easy level covers pairs like hear/here and son/sun, the tricky level covers there/their/they're, to/too/two, your/you're and its/it's, and the last level practises where, wear and were. Were is not a true homophone because it sounds a little different, but it is often mixed up with the other two.
