About Graph Detective
Graphs turn a list of numbers into a picture that is quick to read. This game helps kids build data skills step by step: counting pictures in a pictograph, reading the height of a bar against a scale, and counting tally marks in groups of five. Every chart has a title and labelled axes, and the gridlines make each value easy to read exactly.
Later questions use a key where each picture stands for 2, and bar graph scales that go up in 2s or 5s, so kids learn to check the key and scale before answering. The compare level asks how many more, how many fewer and how many altogether. Pictographs suit Primary 1, bar graphs and tally charts suit Primary 2, and comparing data suits Primary 3–4.

Frequently asked questions
What is a pictograph?
A pictograph (or picture graph) uses small pictures to show data. A key tells you how many each picture stands for. If each picture stands for 2, then half a picture stands for 1.
How do you read tally marks?
Each line stands for 1. Every fifth line is drawn across the other four to make a group of 5. Count the groups in fives, then add the single lines left over.
What age is this graphs game for?
It suits children aged about 6 to 11. Younger children can start with pictographs, and older children can try the compare level.
