Tricks that help
- Count in 28s: start at 28 and add 28 each time (28, 56, 84, 112, 140…).
- Split 28 into 20 and 8: 28 × 7 = 20 × 7 + 8 × 7 = 140 + 56 = 196.
- 28 is double 14, so double the 14 times table: 14 × 7 = 98, and double 98 is 196.
- 28 × 10 = 280: multiplying by 10 adds a zero to the end.
- Every fact has a twin: 28 × 7 = 7 × 28 = 196. If you know one, you know both.
- The last digits of the first ten answers go 8, 6, 4, 2, 0, 8, 6, 4, 2, 0.
