Tricks that help

  • Count in 26s: start at 26 and add 26 each time (26, 52, 78, 104, 130…).
  • Split 26 into 20 and 6: 26 × 7 = 20 × 7 + 6 × 7 = 140 + 42 = 182.
  • 26 is double 13, so double the 13 times table: 13 × 7 = 91, and double 91 is 182.
  • 26 × 10 = 260: multiplying by 10 adds a zero to the end.
  • Every fact has a twin: 26 × 7 = 7 × 26 = 182. If you know one, you know both.
  • The last digits of the first ten answers go 6, 2, 8, 4, 0, 6, 2, 8, 4, 0.
