About Alphabet Fun

Knowing letter names and the sounds they make is one of the strongest early signs of reading success. This game builds those skills step by step: first recognising letters by name, then matching big and small letters, then linking the first sound of a word to its letter. Tricky lookalike letters such as b, d, p and q appear as wrong choices, so children learn to look carefully.

The first sounds level uses simple picture words like apple, ball, cat and dog, each beginning with the clear sound of its letter. The letter order level, asking what comes before or after a letter, helps with alphabetical order for using dictionaries later. Most children in Junior Infants start with letter names, and practise sounds and letter order in Senior Infants to 1st Class.
