Tricks that help

  • Count in 36s: start at 36 and add 36 each time (36, 72, 108, 144, 180…).
  • Split 36 into 30 and 6: 36 × 7 = 30 × 7 + 6 × 7 = 210 + 42 = 252.
  • 36 is double 18, so double the 18 times table: 18 × 7 = 126, and double 126 is 252.
  • 36 × 10 = 360: multiplying by 10 adds a zero to the end.
  • Every fact has a twin: 36 × 7 = 7 × 36 = 252. If you know one, you know both.
  • The last digits of the first ten answers go 6, 2, 8, 4, 0, 6, 2, 8, 4, 0.
