Tricks that help
- Count in 34s: start at 34 and add 34 each time (34, 68, 102, 136, 170…).
- Split 34 into 30 and 4: 34 × 7 = 30 × 7 + 4 × 7 = 210 + 28 = 238.
- 34 is double 17, so double the 17 times table: 17 × 7 = 119, and double 119 is 238.
- 34 × 10 = 340: multiplying by 10 adds a zero to the end.
- Every fact has a twin: 34 × 7 = 7 × 34 = 238. If you know one, you know both.
- The last digits of the first ten answers go 4, 8, 2, 6, 0, 4, 8, 2, 6, 0.
