ow and ou can make the same sound. ow is common at the end of a word (cow), ou in the middle (loud).
Week 3: adding -ed and -ing

After a short vowel, double the last letter (hop, hopped). If a word ends in e, drop the e (make, making).

Tip
Look at the word and say it aloud, cover it, write it from memory, then uncover it and check. Practise a few words each day rather than all ten at once, and use each word in a sentence.
