How to play Fraction Pizza

  1. Choose a level: halves to quarters, up to eighths, up to twelfths, or equivalent fractions.
  2. Look at the picture and count the shaded parts and the total parts.
  3. Choose the fraction that matches the picture.
  4. In equivalent fractions mode, find the fraction worth the same amount.

About Fraction Pizza

Fractions are one of the biggest stumbling blocks in primary maths. Seeing fractions as pictures before working with numbers builds the understanding kids need for later topics like decimals, percentages and ratio.

The top number (numerator) counts the shaded parts. The bottom number (denominator) counts how many equal parts there are in total.
