About Count with Me
Counting real things is the first big step in maths. Children learn to say one number for each object, to know that the last number they say tells them how many, and to match that amount to a written numeral. This game practises all three with simple, cheerful pictures and spoken questions, so even children who cannot read yet can play on their own.
Pictures are always laid out in neat rows of 5, and at the “up to 20” level they are grouped into tens, just like a ten frame at school. Seeing “a row of 5 and 2 more” helps children move from counting every object to recognising amounts at a glance. The “up to 5” level suits Grade RR, while “up to 10” and “up to 20” suit Grade R to Grade 1.

Frequently asked questions
What age is this counting game for?
It is designed for children aged about 3 to 6. Start with “up to 5” for preschoolers and move up to 10 and 20 as counting becomes confident.
My child can’t read yet. Can they still play?
Yes. Questions are read aloud on devices that support speech, and the answers are big numbers and pictures, so very little reading is needed.
Why are the pictures arranged in rows of 5?
Rows of 5 and groups of 10 help children see amounts in chunks, such as “5 and 3 more makes 8”. This builds number sense and gets them ready for adding.
