About Calendar Explorer
Knowing the calendar helps children plan, count down to birthdays and holidays, and understand time beyond the clock. Calendar Explorer starts with the order of the days and months, then moves on to reading a real calendar for an actual month and year.
Every calendar is accurate, so the 14th really is the day of the week shown, and the questions use the same skills children need in class: finding a date, counting how many Mondays a month has, and working out what day it will be next week. Days and months suit Grades 1–2, and reading a calendar and units of time suit Grades 3–4. Every wrong answer comes with a short explanation.

Frequently asked questions
How can I remember how many days are in each month?
Use the rhyme: "30 days has September, April, June and November. February has 28 days, or 29 in a leap year. All the rest have 31." Or count on your knuckles: every knuckle month has 31 days.
What is a leap year?
A leap year has 366 days instead of 365, because February gets an extra day, the 29th. Leap years come every 4 years, such as 2024 and 2028.
How many weeks are in a year?
A year has 52 weeks and 1 extra day, or 2 extra days in a leap year.
