About Speed Math Challenge
Fluency means knowing number facts so well that the answer comes straight away, without counting on fingers. When basic facts are automatic, children have more working memory free for the thinking parts of math, such as multi-step word problems, long multiplication and fractions. Short, timed bursts of practice are one of the best ways to build that automatic recall, and a 60-second round is quick enough to fit into any day.
Speed is never rewarded at the cost of accuracy: wrong answers lose points, and streaks of correct answers earn bonus points, so careful, steady answering scores best. Your best score for each setting is saved on your device, and players with a parent account can also appear on the weekly and all-time leaderboard under a safe, made-up nickname. Easy addition suits 2nd Grade, times tables suit Grades 3–4, and all four operations on Hard will stretch Grades 5–6.

Frequently asked questions
Why practice math against the clock?
Timed practice builds fluency, so facts are recalled instantly instead of worked out each time. That frees up brain power for harder problems. Always aim for accuracy first, then speed.
How is the score worked out?
Each correct answer is worth 10 points on Easy, 15 on Medium and 20 on Hard. Answers in a row earn a streak bonus of 2 extra points per answer in the streak, up to 10. Each wrong answer takes away 5 points, but your score never goes below zero.
How does the leaderboard work?
If a parent has set up an account, your points are added to the leaderboard under a safe nickname at the end of each round. No real names are shown. Without an account, your best scores are still saved on your device.
