About Alphabet Fun
Knowing letter names and the sounds they make is one of the strongest early signs of reading success. This game builds those skills step by step: first recognising letters by name, then matching big and small letters, then linking the first sound of a word to its letter. Tricky lookalike letters such as b, d, p and q appear as wrong choices, so children learn to look carefully.
The first sounds level uses simple picture words like apple, ball, cat and dog, each beginning with the clear sound of its letter. The letter order level, asking what comes before or after a letter, helps with alphabetical order for using dictionaries later. Most children in Nursery start with letter names, and practise sounds and letter order in Reception to Year 1.

What age is this alphabet game for?
It suits children aged about 3 to 6, from preschoolers learning their first letters to children in Reception to Year 1 practising phonics.
Does the game read the letters out loud?
Yes, on devices that support speech. Tap the speaker button to hear a question again. Make sure your device’s sound is on.
Should my child learn letter names or letter sounds first?
Both matter, and children usually learn them side by side. Use “Find the letter” for names and “First sounds” for sounds, and say the sounds together as you play.
