How to play Number Ninja

  1. Choose a game: number sense (even and odd, number bonds, bigger and smaller), times tables, mixed facts or fractions. For times tables you can pick one table or practise them all mixed.
  2. Read the rule at the top, such as "Slice multiples of 4" or "Slice fractions equal to ½". Fruit flies up from the bottom of the board.
  3. Swipe across a fruit (or tap it) to slice it. On a keyboard, press the letter shown on the fruit. Right answers splash juice and build your combo; a wrong slice costs a life and shows you why.
  4. Leave the ÷0 bombs alone! In Arcade, letting three right answers fall also costs a life. Clear each rule to move to a faster wave. At the end you will see the facts to practise.

What your child learns

  • Recognising even and odd numbers
  • Number bonds to 10 and 20
  • Comparing numbers: bigger and smaller
  • Times tables from 2 to 12 and spotting multiples
  • Addition, subtraction and division facts
  • Equivalent fractions and comparing fractions with one half

About Number Ninja

Number Ninja turns fact checking into a split-second decision. Every fruit is a tiny question: is 28 a multiple of 4? Is 3/6 the same as ½? Children have to read each number, test it against the rule and act, dozens of times a minute, which builds the quick, confident recall that makes harder maths feel easy. A wrong slice is never just a lost life: the game pauses for a moment and explains the mistake, such as "27 is not a multiple of 4 (6 × 4 = 24)".

Number sense suits Years 2–3, with even and odd numbers, bonds to 10 and 20 and comparing numbers. Times tables suit Years 4–5, and fractions and mixed facts stretch children in Years 6–7. A Calm setting slows the fruit, gives five lives, removes the penalty for fruit that falls and ends after six rules, so younger or newer players can learn without pressure. The facts-to-practise list at the end shows exactly what to revise.

Frequently asked questions

How do I play Number Ninja on a computer without a touch screen?

Hold the mouse button down and drag across a fruit to slice it, or just click on it. You can also play with the keyboard alone: every fruit has a letter, so press that letter to slice it. P pauses the game.

What are the ÷0 bombs?

Dividing by zero has no answer, so the bombs are fruit to avoid. Slicing one costs a life. They start to appear from the second wave.

Is there an easier way to play?

Yes. Choose the Calm speed on the start screen. Fruit flies more slowly, you get five lives, fruit that falls is never a penalty and the round ends after six rules.

Can I practise just one times table?

Yes. Choose Times tables, then pick a table from 2 to 12. Choose Mixed to start with the 2, 5 and 10 times tables and add harder tables in later waves.
