How to play Maths Bingo

  1. Choose a card size (4 by 4 or 5 by 5) and the kind of sums: adding and taking away, times tables or a mix.
  2. A sum is called, such as 7 + 5. Work it out, then tap the answer on your bingo card.
  3. Get a full row, column or diagonal to win BINGO, then keep going to cover every square for a full house bonus.
  4. If you tap the wrong number, don’t worry: the square stays open and another sum with that answer may be called later.
  5. Teachers and parents can print 4 different bingo cards and a caller list for a classroom game.

About Maths Bingo

Bingo turns number fact practice into a game of anticipation. Every call asks children to calculate first and then search the card for the answer, so they practise recall and number recognition together. Because every square can be the winning one, children stay focused on every sum.

Younger children in Years 2–3 can start with a 4 by 4 card of adding and taking away. Children in Years 4–5 can play with times tables, and the mixed game keeps everything fresh for Years 6–7. For classroom use, print a set of 4 different cards and the caller list, and play together as a class.
