Halloween learning ideas at home

  • Pumpkin maths: Count the seeds in a pumpkin in groups of 10, guess the weight, or measure round the middle with string.
  • Spooky word hunt: Write ten Halloween words (pumpkin, ghost, spider, moon, broom) and ask your child to sort them by number of letters or syllables.
  • Treat sharing: Share treats equally between family members and talk about what is left over. That is division with remainders.
  • Story starter: Write a short, friendly ghost story that starts: “The pumpkin on the doorstep began to glow…”
  • Bat facts: Bats are the only mammals that can really fly. Find three more bat facts together and draw a fact poster.
